Hot chili with beans and bread
Ingredients (4 servings):
Chili:
- 500 g minced meat
- 400 g canned bean mix
- 1 yellow onion, chopped
- 2 minced garlic cloves
- 400 g crushed tomatoes
- 30 g butter
- 1 tsp chili flakes
- ½ dl chili sauce
- Salt and black pepper
Flatbread:
- 5 dl sour milk
- 1 ½ dl light syrup
- 2 tsp fennel seeds
- 2 tsp aniseed
- 13 dl sifted rye flour
- 2 tsp salt
- 2 tsp baking soda
Step by step:
- Chop onion and garlic.
- Melt butter in a heated Muurikka pan. Cook meat until it’s brown and fully cooked. Add onion and garlic.
- Stir together crushed tomatoes, chili flakes, chili sauce and beans. Let the dish simmer. Season with salt and black pepper.
Flatbread:
- Stir sour milk and syrup together.
- Crush fennel and aniseed in a mortar.
- Mix all the ingredients together, add fluids and knead into a dough.
- Share dough into 20 pieces and roll them out into round cakes. Prick them with a fork.
- Cook bread on the pan’s dry side on medium heat.
Bread is cooked after frying 1–2 minutes on both sides, when it’s light brown.
