Hot chili with beans and bread

Ingredients (4 servings):

Chili:

  • 500 g minced meat
  • 400 g canned bean mix
  • 1 yellow onion, chopped
  • 2 minced garlic cloves
  • 400 g crushed tomatoes
  • 30 g butter
  • 1 tsp chili flakes
  • ½ dl chili sauce
  • Salt and black pepper

Flatbread:

  • 5 dl sour milk
  • 1 ½ dl light syrup
  • 2 tsp fennel seeds
  • 2 tsp aniseed
  • 13 dl sifted rye flour
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp baking soda

Step by step:

  1. Chop onion and garlic.
  2. Melt butter in a heated Muurikka pan. Cook meat until it’s brown and fully cooked. Add onion and garlic.
  3. Stir together crushed tomatoes, chili flakes, chili sauce and beans. Let the dish simmer. Season with salt and black pepper.

Flatbread:

  1. Stir sour milk and syrup together.
  2. Crush fennel and aniseed in a mortar.
  3. Mix all the ingredients together, add fluids and knead into a dough.
  4. Share dough into 20 pieces and roll them out into round cakes. Prick them with a fork.
  5. Cook bread on the pan’s dry side on medium heat.

Bread is cooked after frying 1–2 minutes on both sides, when it’s light brown.
